In 2024, Hong Kong Aikido Honshinkai continued its dedication to promoting Aikido, an art that combines martial philosophy with physical and mental harmony. Our dojo, rooted in tradition but attentive to the needs of modern society, provides a platform for all students to learn and interact. This year, our training and activities have been particularly noteworthy, offering students a wealth of experiences and growth.
Annual Training Highlights
We conducted multiple regular classes each week, covering fundamental movements, footwork, joint locks, throws, and falls. Class times were:
Tuesdays and Thursdays: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Saturdays: 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Located in the 10/F., Century Centre, Kwun Tong, Kowloon, students practised together in a non-competitive environment, gradually improving their skills. This year, we placed particular emphasis on dojo etiquette and cooperation, helping students achieve comprehensive progress on both technical and spiritual levels.
Events and Achievements
International Martial Arts Competition Participation: Our students represented Hong Kong at the 14th International Aikido Federation Martial Arts Competition held in Tokyo, Japan in October 2024. They not only showcased their exceptional skills but also enhanced China's international influence in Aikido.
Grading Results: Many students successfully passed their grading exams in 2024, demonstrating their dedication and understanding of Aikido. We are proud of their efforts and encourage more students to challenge themselves.
Tokyo Headquarters Dojo Trip: Some students participated in special training at the Aikikai Foundation Headquarters Dojo in Tokyo, Japan, under the guidance of Shihan Shigeharu Sugawara. This trip deepened their understanding of Aikido and provided new inspiration for their future training.
