The Keiko and Seminar offered a fantastic opportunity to participate as Uke for the instructors. I was honoured to be selected by Shigeru Sugawara Shihan as his Uke during the 11th IAF Seminar, an experience that is usually reserved for Ushi-deshi.
The teachers at Hombu Dojo would rotate during class, giving everyone the chance to act as Uke. If you were lucky enough, you might even get the chance to be Uke while the instructor demonstrates a technique to the whole class. It was truly a special experience to feel the power of the throw from the instructors.
